Laguna Point Recreation Area

Laguna Point is a notable landmark with areas suitable for recreational improvements and lagoon access, natural features of ecological significance meriting preservation and restoration, and sites appropriate for education and interpretation of Laguna Madre and its shorelands.

Southern Small Craft & Kayak Launch

This project is a 16-foot wide, single lane boat ramp with twenty (20) 10 ft. x 40 ft. parking spaces for vehicles and trailers, improved access road, a restrooms structure with composting toilets, facility manager’s office structure, maintenance closets, utilities (electrical/lighting, and potable water), shore road-edge cedar-post guardrail and short paths.

The reef site is 160 acres.  Newly deployed artificial reefmaterial includes a tugboat, the Coshecton, andover 800 concrete culverts.  There is a yellow 10′ lighted buoy attachedto the tug.

The coordinates for the tugboat, in NAD 83 are:  N 26° 31’22.0″  W 97° 09′ 00.2″

The culverts are scattered about 100-600′ NW of the tugboat.
